Sycamore Tree Along the Hudson River and the Palisades. (1989)

North of New York City in Westchester County, on an old Rockefeller estate (you can see an old rock wall on the right).

As I was painting this, an old woman with her nurse walked by on a path. The older woman looked at my painting, threw her arms up and asked loudly "Where's this tree? Where is it?" I smiled, pointed up and said, "Right there, it's right above us!" 😊

Before there a sunset, there was snow...

I started the previous painting, "Branches at Sunset," during winter. I originally had snow on the branches, but later decided to change it to a sunset scene. I must have been in a warm mood instead of a cold one.

Tuscan Field with Two Trees

Murlo, Italy. I spent a week in Tuscany with my good friend and artist, Christoph Blumrich painting the countryside. We stayed in the charming and active Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore monastery for $20 a night.
