Tuscan Arch (2004)
Murlo, Italy. I spent a week in Tuscany with my good friend and artist, Christoph Blumrich painting the countryside. We stayed in the charming and active Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore monastery for $20 a night. We framed two canvases a day, one for a morning painting and, as the light had changed, one for an afternoon painting. In between, we'd eat a simple lunch out of a pillowcase in a sunny field somewhere: wine, cheese, salami, fruit, and fresh bread. Paradise.

Graffiti Eye on [Condemned] Motel Wall
A motel in Lansing, MI, was about to be demolished, so they invited graffiti artists to cover the walls. I did a big eyeball just so I could get a photo of a bucket loader cram its shovel through the eye. Somehow, I missed it.
